Rushmoor Community Award 2016

Kevin Matthew is a local businessman who has spent the past 30 years supporting a number of local charities, individuals and causes, raising an incredible £250,000 for Aldershot and Farnborough charities. He has taken part in hundreds of fundraising events from sky dives to 100-mile cycle rides and been the main sponsor of Picnic to Music in the Park for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Kevin is also a funding partner for the Community Matters Partnership Project, which helps raise money for local projects for young people. He offers challenging youngsters (often excluded from school) employment and apprenticeship opportunities and a number still work for him today or have gone on to build their own businesses.
He has funded and provided a new heating system at Parity for Disability in Farnborough and at The Source, a young people's charity in Aldershot.

Kevin often visits schools to give talks and encourages his 120 employees to get involved through offering them all paid volunteering time. He donates raffle prizes for charity events and always books a table at charity fundraisers for his staff to attend. He has given football equipment to Creating Futures (previously the Gaming Zone), in Farnborough.

Kevin offers his business skills, expertise and time to any local charity needing help. He recently provided all materials and helped to renovate an ex-soldier's house.
